Tragic Incident in Katsina as Bandits Reportedly Claim 33 Lives in Two Villages

An attack by suspected bandits resulted in the tragic death of 33 people in two villages in Batsari local Government area of Katsina state on Friday, February 14. The attack took place around 6:30pm during prayer time in Tsauwa and Dankar villages, with several houses, animals, and properties being burnt. The state police commissioner, Sanusi Buba, confirmed the incident and stated that over 20 persons who were confirmed dead in Tsauwa village were mostly elderly men. Eyewitnesses who spoke to The Nation reported that 23 persons were killed in Tsauwa and about 10 persons were killed in the neighboring Dankar village. As a result of the attack, Dankar village turned into a ghost town as several villagers fled for safety in nearby towns to avoid further harm.
