Argentina is on the brink of being the first major Latin American country to legalize abortion.   Currently, abortion in Argentina is permitted only in cases of rape or when the mother's health is at risk. President Alberto Fernández has announced his intention to introduce a bill to Congress within the next 10 days to legalize abortion.   During his first annual address to congress on Sunday night, he emphasized, “The state must protect its citizens in general and women in particular.
