700 People in New York Voluntarily Quarantined After Returning from China

Upon returning from China, approximately 700 individuals in New York have opted for voluntary quarantines due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in Wuhan, China. Jill Montag, a spokesperson for the New York State Department of Health, confirmed that about 700 travelers have willingly agreed to a 14-day self-isolation period following their trips to China. An arrest has been made in connection with the murder of an AEDC official in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended Oputa Vitus in connection with the homicide of Ibrahim Garba Haji, a staff member of the Abuja Electrical Distribution Company (AEDC).   Haji was reportedly stabbed by the suspect with a knife in Pasali, Kabusa Community, Abuja on Tuesday while carrying out his official duties in the community. Tragic death of 15-year-old Shiite member in Kaduna

Reports indicate that a 15-year-old boy, Muhammad Jawwad, was allegedly shot dead during a protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria IMN, also known as Shiites, in Kaduna state on February 26th.   Muhammad and other Shiite members took to the streets to demand the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, who has been in detention since 2015.   In July 2016, the Kaduna state government prohibited activities of Shiites in the state. Despite the ban, Shiites have continued to hold protests in the state.

Lawyers representing David Lyon and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the application for review of the apex court’s judgement on Bayelsa election have been fined by the Supreme Court. Justice Afe Babalola represented Mr Lyon while Wole Olanipekun represented the APC.   During the delivery of the judgement on the party's application, Justice Amina Augie, with tears in her eyes, expressed regret that "very senior" lawyers were responsible for filing the applications.   The Supreme court justices ruled that each of the lawyers must pay N10 million to each of the three respondents – the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Duoye Diri, and the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhruojakpo, bringing the total amount to be paid to N60 million. ...
