Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, was seen engrossed in deep worship after receiving news that the Supreme Court had upheld his election. This comes after the Supreme Court dismissed the application filed by the APC, seeking a review of the judgement annulling the election of its candidate in the November 2019 election and instating Duoye Diri into office. The court stated that the APC's application lacked merit and that its decision cannot be reversed. Diri was at the home of his predecessor, Seriake Dickson, in Abuja when the apex court ruled in their favor. They were seen on their knees, worshiping and thanking God for the judgment. Reconfirming Douye Diri as the winner of the November 2019 state governorship election, the Supreme Court today maintained its decision nullifying the election of David Lyon as Governor-elect of Bayelsa state.   Regarding the nullification of Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo on the basis of the latter's use of forged certificates in the election, the apex court made this decision on February 13th.   After the ruling, the APC sought a review of the verdict by the court.   In the verdict delivered this morning, the Supreme Court justices, led by Justice Amina Augie, stated that the application filed by the APC for the review of the court's judgment lacked merit.
