The Zonal Intervention Squad of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Obada-Oko, Ogun State, has been disbanded by the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu. This action comes days after some SARS operatives in the zone reportedly caused the death of a player of Remo Stars Football Club, Tiyamiyu Kazeem. Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Criminal Investigations Department Force Headquarters, Peter Ogunyonwo, announced the disbandment of the ZIS during a condolence visit to the parents of the deceased in Sagamu. Ogunyonwo, who made the announcement during the visit accompanied by Governor of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun, stated that the ZIS office would be handed over to the Ogun State Police Command.

The mother of late Tiamiyu Kazeem, a former player of Remo Stars football club, revealed that operatives from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had made an attempt to arrest her son just two weeks before his tragic demise in an altercation with SARS officers over the weekend.   She made this disclosure during a condolence visit by the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday, February 25th. “Two weeks before his death, my son complained that operatives of SARS usually surrounded his car.
