Former Osasuna Executives and Ex-Betis Players Jailed for Match-Fixing
A group comprising five former directors of La Liga's Osasuna and two ex-players from Real Betis has been sentenced to prison following convictions on various charges, including match-fixing in the Spanish top-flight.
Previous Real Betis players Antonio Amaya and Xavi Torres have been given one-year jail terms for sports corruption, marking the first convictions in Spain related to sporting corruption.
Prosecutors stated that Amaya and Torres accepted money to manipulate matches in favor of Osasuna during the final stages of the 2013-14 season, during which Osasuna struggled to avoid relegation.
