4.8-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Australia’s East Coast

Off the North Queensland coast in Australia, an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale was recorded by GeoScience at approximately 5:00pm on Wednesday.   Reports indicate that the quake was felt in Bowen, Mackay, Townsville, Ayr, and Airlie Beach.   No damage to homes or injuries has been reported so far, but the state emergency services in the area are on alert awaiting calls for assistance.   Terry Stone, a resident of Bowen, described feeling a tremor that resembled nearby thunder. "The house shook a little bit, it felt like big thunder close by, I didn't realise what it was," he said.

The tragic death of a nurse, who was 8 months pregnant, has been linked to domestic violence at the hands of her husband.   The woman, known as Ms Anya Adaeze, also referred to as Mummy David, was allegedly subjected to physical assault by her husband, Olabode Oluwasanmi, in Akure, Ondo State.   Reports indicate that the incident took place last week, when the deceased was 8 months pregnant.   It has been revealed that following a disagreement with her husband, he reportedly used an iron rod to assault her. Fire Engulfs Corporate Affairs Commission Headquarters in Abuja

Following the recent fire at the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the headquarters of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Abuja has also been affected by a fire outbreak.   Located in Maitama District, Abuja, the building caught fire on Wednesday morning, April 15. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Reports indicate that the fire consumed the top floor of the seven-story building, causing damage to valuable items and other possessions.   Upon contacting the spokesperson of the Federal Fire Service, DSF Ugo Huan, it was confirmed that firefighters were en route to the scene.

Nine COVID19 patients discharged in Abuja

The Abuja Isolation Center has recently discharged nine COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the disease. This brings the total number of discharged patients from the center to 20. The FCTA announced this positive development via a tweet on April 15, 2020. Out of the nine newly discharged patients, two were treated at the National Hospital Isolation & Treatment Centre, while the other seven received treatment at the UniAbuja Teaching Hospital Isolation Centre, Gwagwalada.
