4.8-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Australia’s East Coast
Off the North Queensland coast in Australia, an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale was recorded by GeoScience at approximately 5:00pm on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the quake was felt in Bowen, Mackay, Townsville, Ayr, and Airlie Beach.
No damage to homes or injuries has been reported so far, but the state emergency services in the area are on alert awaiting calls for assistance.
Terry Stone, a resident of Bowen, described feeling a tremor that resembled nearby thunder. "The house shook a little bit, it felt like big thunder close by, I didn't realise what it was," he said.
