Irish Political Leader Mary Lou McDonald Tests Positive for COVID-19
Confirmation has emerged that a prominent Irish political figure has been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.
Mary Lou McDonald, the leader of the left-wing Irish nationalist party, Sinn Fein, underwent testing on March 28 and received the positive result following a prolonged period of illness.
Two weeks ago, the 50-year-old divulged that she had woken up with a head cold and would be staying at home. Earlier, Ms. McDonald's children had to go into isolation after a case was detected at their Glasnevin school last month.
Ms. McDonald stated in a release on Tuesday, "Yesterday afternoon, I received a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 having been tested on Saturday, 28th March."
She added, "The Public Health Doctor has advised me that I am no longer carrying the infection ...
