Kidnappers in Bauchi kill medical doctor’s son despite N4.5m ransom payment

Despite his father's payment of N4.5 million ransom, 15-year-old Abubakar, son of a medical doctor in Bauchi, was killed by suspected kidnappers.   Abubakar, who attends a secondary school in Bauchi, was abducted on April 1st in front of his father's house along Gombe road in Ningi local government area of the state.   Dr. Sadiq, who works at the Abubakar Tafawa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, was at work when he received the news of his son's abduction. He immediately reported the matter to the neighborhood security outfit and the state police.   Sadiq stated that the abductors initially demanded N3 million, which he paid, and later asked for an additional N1.5 million. Confirmation of 5 new Coronavirus cases in Kwara, Katsina, and Lagos

Recent reports from the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the discovery of 5 new cases of Coronavirus in Kwara, Katsina, and Lagos states.   The number of states with confirmed Coronavirus cases has now increased to 19. As of 09:10 pm on April 12, Nigeria has recorded 323 confirmed cases of Coronavirus. Out of these, 85 patients have been discharged, while 10 deaths have been reported.   The distribution of the cases across different states is as follows: Lagos- 176, FCT- 56, Osun- 20, Edo- 12, Oyo- 11, Ogun- 7, Bauchi- 6, Kaduna- 6, Akwa Ibom- 5, Katsina- 5, Kwara- 4, Delta- 3, Enugu- 2, Ekiti- 2, Rivers- 2, Ondo- 2, Benue- 1, Niger- 1, Anambra- 1, Kano- 1.

Warri Police Arrest Three Church Leaders for Conducting Easter Services

Police in Delta State apprehended three clergymen in Warri today, April 12, for organizing Easter services with over 100 congregants present. The affected churches include St James Anglican Church, Ojabugbe, All Saints Anglican Church, Airport Road, and Christ For the World Mission, Daudu Street. Two of the pastors, along with 20 others, maintained that their services did not reach full capacity. 28-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping 8-year-old girl after luring her with biscuits in Lagos

The police in Lagos state has arrested a 28-year-old man, Adetayo Rasaq, on suspicion of raping an 8-year-old girl in the Ikorodu area. On April 9th, a middle-aged man reported to the Ikorodu Police Station that his daughter had been assaulted by the suspect. According to the report, the victim complained of pain and stomach aches, revealing that she was given biscuits by Rasaq on March 31st before being taken to his room where the assault took place. The victim's father brought her to the hospital for treatment and forensic examination. This brings the total number of discharged patients in the state since the outbreak began in February to 55.
