A Facebook user, Saheed Akinloye, was on Tuesday remanded in a correctional centre by the Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for accusing the state government of importing COVID-19 patients into the state in order to access funds from the Federal Government. Akinloye was arraigned on four counts bordering on defamation, intent to incite members of the public against the government and interference with the Executive Order. The claims made by Mrs. Susan Okpe, the index case of COVID-19 in Benue State, that she's being detained by the FG have been denied by Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Nigeria's Minister of Health. The London based woman, in a new online video, accused the Federal Government of keeping her for treatment against her will. However, the Minister explained at a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, April 14, that Okpe has been tested positive for Covid-19 twice, but she has refused to accept the results, insisting that they are fake because she is not showing any symptom of the disease. Immigration chief Mohammed Babandede recovers from COVID-19

Mohammed Babandede, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has overcome COVID-19 after receiving treatment.   In March, the Immigration chief revealed that he had tested positive for the virus following his return from a trip to the UK and subsequently went into self-isolation.   In a tweet posted on Tuesday, April 14, Babandede announced that he had tested negative for COVID-19 twice. "I just received my 2nd negative report on COVID-19. I would like to thank all of you for your supplications. This victory is from God; we thank Him for giving me the opportunity to have the experience, which is more than my education and public service," he wrote.
