Man Arrested for Trying to Smuggle Girlfriend in Car Trunk During Lockdown (Photo)

A man from South Africa has been apprehended by law enforcement for attempting to secretly transport his girlfriend in the back of his car during a nationwide lockdown aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-19.   According to a official from Gauteng province, the woman was discovered in the car trunk during a routine stop and search at a roadblock in the region.   The driver, who didn't possess a permit, was traveling to the Eastern Mpumalanga province. Authorities also arrested the woman for willingly agreeing to be smuggled.   The South African government initiated a nationwide lockdown on March 24th for a period of three weeks, but it has since been extended until the end of April.

An Army Officer, previously identified as the index case of COVID-19 in Ondo state, has successfully recovered after twice testing negative for the virus following treatment. State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, made the announcement on Twitter on Monday afternoon, April 20, confirming the officer's release to go home. Six suspected ritualists arrested in Lagos

On Monday afternoon, April 20, pandemonium erupted in the Shogunle and Ladipo area of Agege Motor Road in Lagos state following the arrest of six suspected ritualists. Reports indicate that the suspected ritualists, known for abducting passersby along the road, were apprehended after a failed attempt to abduct a street sweeper. The street sweeper's cry for help attracted residents of the area and area boys who came to her rescue. One of the suspected ritualists attempted to flee upon sighting them but was chased and apprehended by the area boys. Five other suspected ritualists were also apprehended, and their lynching was prevented due to the timely intervention of the police.
