Niger state government lifts ban on Juma'at prayers despite having two confirmed cases of COVID-19

The government of Niger state has lifted the ban on congregational Friday Prayer (Juma’at), despite two confirmed cases of COVID-19. The suspension has been lifted for Friday, 17th April, 2020. According to a statement released this morning, the Juma’at Prayer is expected to take place between 11am to 3pm, with strict observance of precautionary measures including the use of hand sanitizers, face masks, hand washing facilities, social distancing, and avoiding contact-based greetings. The sermon and prayers are to be conducted within thirty minutes, and Muslims are advised to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures. The lockdown, however, continues immediately after the Juma'at Prayers. The state of Niger currently has two confirmed cases of COVID-19.
