President Buhari’s Appointment of Deceased Ebonyi Lawmaker to Federal Character Commission Board
Reports from SaharaReporters suggest that President Muhammadu Buhari appointed the late Tobias Chukwuemeka Okwuru, a former lawmaker from Ebonyi State, to the board of the Federal Character Commission.
The appointment of the deceased Okwuru, along with 37 others, was communicated in a letter sent by Buhari to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation.
During the Senate's plenary, Senate President Ahmad Lawan read out the letter on Tuesday.
Investigations by SaharaReporters revealed that Okwuru, who previously represented Ikwo/Ezza Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, passed away in February 2020 at the age of 59.
