The governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma, receives negative COVID-19 test result

Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo state, has tested negative for the Coronavirus. A statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, on Monday morning, April 13, confirmed that the test conducted on the governor to check for the coronavirus disease returned a negative result, which was received today. "The governor of Imo state, Dist Sen Hope Uzodimma, has tested negative for the Coronavirus infection. The result of a test conducted on him came out this morning and confirmed that he is free of the virus," the statement reads. Imo state has no confirmed cases of COVID-19.

COVID-19: Iran reports 1,617 new cases of Coronavirus and 111 deaths

Iran's health ministry on Monday reported another 1,617 cases and 111 deaths from Coronavirus.   Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said 1,617 new infections took the total number of cases in the country's outbreak to 73,303, of whom 45,983 had recovered. Extension of Lockdown in Ghana due to COVID19

There has been an extension of the lockdown on some cities in Ghana by one week, as announced by the government.   As stated on the country's Ministry of Information's Twitter handle, the restrictions on public gatherings will continue for two more weeks, while the limitation of movement in popular cities like Accra, Tema, Kumasi, and Kasoa will be extended for an additional week.   The initial lockdown was implemented on March 30th to combat the spread of the Coronavirus. Ghana has currently reported 566 confirmed cases of COVID19, with four recoveries and eight deaths.

The announcement has been made that a hotel owned by former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, is set to be used as an isolation and treatment center for Coronavirus patients. Mrs. Jonathan has reportedly reached an agreement with First Lady Aisha Buhari to release the 200-bed hotel, which has been under interim forfeiture secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
