US threatens to block China Telecom from American market
The US has issued a threat to bar China Telecom from operating in the American market due to legal and security concerns. The Justice Department and other top government departments recommended that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revoke China Telecom (Americas)'s authorizations to provide international telecommunications services in the US.
The Justice Department stated that significant national security and law enforcement risks associated with China Telecom's operations make its FCC authorizations contrary to the public interest.
