Former Jigawa Speaker, Adamu Ahmed dies in Kano

Former Jigawa Speaker, Adamu Ahmed, has passed away in Kano at the age of 66 after battling a long illness. He served as the Speaker of Jigawa State House of Assembly for eight years during Dr. Sule Lamido's tenure (2007-2015) and is believed to be the longest-serving speaker since the state's establishment in 1991, having never faced any impeachment threats. Adamu Ahmed died on Monday night, April 28, in Kano. He will be laid to rest in his hometown, Gurgun Daho of Kafin Hausa local government, in accordance with Islamic customs. He is survived by two wives and several children.

Today, on April 28, members of the House of Representatives resumed plenary in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.   To contain the spread of COVID-19, the lawmakers were required to maintain social distance inside the chamber, leaving a gap of two seats between themselves. They were also mandated to wear face masks and hand gloves.

Anambra Police intercept truckload of cement stolen in Edo

Anambra Police have intercepted a truckload of cement that was stolen in Edo state by a four-man robbery syndicate. The suspects were apprehended in Onitsha, Anambra State, after allegedly diverting the truck carrying 900 bags of cement from Edo to Anambra. NNPC filling station fire claimed 30 vehicles – LASEMA

The LASEMA authorities have reported that a significant number of vehicles, around 30, were destroyed when a fire broke out at an NNPC filling station in Ogba. Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, revealed that the incident occurred at the NNPC filling station in Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, resulting in the destruction of the vehicles.
