Former Vice Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, Criticizes Relaxing Lockdown for Religious Reasons
Peter Obi, the former Vice Presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed disapproval of the government's decision to relax the lockdown orders in various states for Jumat and Easter celebrations.
During an interview on Arise TV on Friday, April 10, the ex-Governor of Anambra State argued that allowing the relaxation of lockdown for religious reasons is inappropriate given the escalating spread of the coronavirus pandemic and the inadequate resources available to manage it in Nigeria.
Obi also highlighted the deficiency of ventilators in some states that have relaxed the lockdown directives, emphasizing the potential crisis if the situation worsens.
