Death of Halima Shitu, the first female Kano Hisbah commander

At the age of 55, Halima Shitu, the first female Hisbah Commander in Kano state, has passed away, according to a family source.   Before her death, she had been the Chairperson of the Association of Muslim Women in Africa(AMEWA), where she made significant contributions to Islamic scholarship among women in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.   Her sister, Maimuna Shitu, stated, "She left behind a husband, Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdullah, a prominent Islamic Scholar, and six children to mourn her. Edo State Reports 4 New Cases of Coronavirus

The total number of Coronavirus cases in Edo State has risen to 29 with the announcement of 4 new cases by the state government.   It was reported by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on April 27 that there were 25 cases of the virus in the South-South state.    According to the state’s Commissioner for Health, Patrick Okundia, 254 suspected cases were tested as of April 27.   He also revealed that the state has recorded three deaths since the outbreak of the disease and currently has 18 active cases.    Okundia provided further details, stating:   “We have a total of 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 194 suspected cases testing negative. “The case fatality rate is 10.3% with three deaths out of the 29 confirmed cases. “Eight individuals have been discharged, leavin...

Tragic Fire Incident Claims Lives of Woman and her Two Children in Rivers (See Photos)

A devastating fire outbreak occurred in Alikor estate in Choba, Rivers state, leading to the tragic death of a Nigerian woman and her two children, both under the age of 10, today on April 28th.   Reports indicate that the fire is suspected to have been caused by the kerosene that the woman sells.
