Death Toll Surpasses 200 in Kenya Floods as Cyclone Draws Near
The number of fatalities from flood-related incidents in Kenya has exceeded 200 since March, according to a statement by the interior ministry on Friday. This occurs as a cyclone approaches the Tanzanian coast.
Extensive rains have battered East Africa, leading to flooding and landslides that have demolished crops, engulfed residences, and displaced hundreds of thousands of individuals.
The interior ministry disclosed that a total of 210 people have lost their lives in Kenya due to severe weather conditions, with 22 fatalities occurring in the last 24 hours.
Additionally, more than 165,000 individuals have been forced out of their homes, with 90 others reported missing, heightening concerns of a further rise in the death toll.
