Outcry from Southern Kaduna Residents over Attacks by Suspected Herdsmen

Urgent intervention has been requested by the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) following the alarming incidents of destruction of farm crops, killings, and kidnappings in Kauru and Kachia Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.

Expressing deep concern, the forum described the news of the killings and destruction of farmers’ crops in Kauru Local Government Area as devastating.

According to a statement by the forum’s Public Relations Officer, Josiah Yusuf Abraks, the victims, predominantly farmers, are in a dire situation as they struggle to feed themselves after their crops were destroyed by the rampaging herdsmen.

The statement also highlighted the failure to apprehend the culprits responsible for the attacks.

The forum urged Governor Uba Sani and security agencies to take necessary actions to arrest those responsible for the crimes in Yadi community and other affected areas.

Additionally, the forum appealed for government intervention to provide assistance to the affected individuals to help them rebuild their lives.

Recent incidents mentioned in the statement included the killing of Dr. Ishaya in Kwassam and the kidnapping of eight individuals in Kauru LGA. It also noted the abduction of the District Head of Garu in Lere LGA and the killing of Pastor Peter Shabanyan in Katul Crossing community of Kachia LGA.
