Outbreak of Coronavirus: 101 Inmates Test Positive in DR Congo’s Military Prison

In Kinshasa’s N’dolo military prison, 101 inmates have been confirmed to be infected with Coronavirus, as per the announcement made by the health ministry of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 

A statement revealed that “Fifty-six (additional) people in Ndolo military prison were confirmed with COVID-19” on Saturday, while forty-three cases had been diagnosed at the prison on Thursday and Friday.”

 

Authorities mentioned that only three infected inmates have been transferred to a hospital outside the facility. Six inmates are under close supervision within the prison, while the rest are experiencing mild symptoms.

 

The prison administration also conducted disinfection of three wings of the facility on Monday.

 

These developments bring the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo to 682, including 34 deaths.
