Otti angry over killing of 2 policemen in Abia, vows to change security strategy

Following the killing of two policemen in Aba on Friday by unknown hoodlums, Abia State Governor Alex Otti has visited the families of the Police officers to commiserate with them.

Four policemen were attacked by the hoodlums, who killed two and wounded two others in the Opobo Road area of Aba.

Speaking to journalists after the visit to the families of the victims and hospitals where the two wounded policemen are receiving treatment, Otti described the attack as unfortunate.

He vowed that his government would fish out the perpetrators and regretted that the attack is coming few weeks after a similar incident that involved soldiers.

The governor assured residents of Abia State that there would be a change in security strategy.

“We thought that with all what we have done, including rounding up some of the people that were involved in that last attack, that this would not happen again.

“We have decided to change strategy. We do not want to speculate but like you (journalist) rightly asked, it is reasonable to suspect that the enemies of the state, particularly those who don’t seem to see any good or want any good for Abia people, may be somehow connected to this . That’s a suspicion.

“We are not going to let this go away without identifying and bringing to book all those who are directly or remotely involved,” Otti said.

The governor added that he believes that by the time investigations are over and all the intelligence that are being gathered are put together, government would know actually where the attacks are coming from.

Otti, however, stressed that his administration would not succumb to any form of blackmail.
