Preceding the scheduled 10-day nationwide protest slated to begin today, August 1, 2024, the Osun State Police Command has confirmed the implementation of necessary security measures.

This information was disclosed by CP Mohammed Umar Abba, the Commissioner of Police, in a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, on Thursday.

CP Abba mentioned that the Command, along with other security agencies in the state, will conduct a show of force across the entire state.

He stated that the purpose of the show of force is to notify the public about the preparedness of the security agencies for the upcoming protest.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the show of force will encompass all Police Area Commands within the state.

Addressing the situation, he stated, “The Operational demonstration of Force/Strength involving personnel from all security agencies in the state is aimed at informing the public about the state’s security agencies’ readiness for the protest.”

“The Operational demonstration of Force is under the coordination of DCP Abayomi Shogunle, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations,” he added.

He continued, “The operations will span across all the Area Commands in the state.”

The top police official in Osun also reassured the public that the Command will spare no effort to guarantee a peaceful conduct of the planned protest.

He cautioned that those who violate the rules of engagement will face decisive actions within the provisions of the existing law.
