Osun Discharges Index Case of Coronavirus after 38 Days

After 38 days since being admitted, the index case of Coronavirus in Osun State has been discharged, as confirmed by the state’s commissioner for health, Rafiu Isamotu. 

 

The individual, who had arrived in Osun from the United Kingdom, tested negative for the virus twice, leading to the decision to discharge them.

 

In a statement released on Saturday, May 2, the health commissioner revealed that three health workers in the state have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to eight.

 

Isamotu stated;

 

“After 38 days since admission, the State of Osun today discharged its COVID-19 index case after testing negative twice for the virus. 

“The case had arrived in Osun from the United Kingdom and was admitted to the Isolation Centre before being transferred to a care facility, where they received medical care until their full recovery on Friday.

“Similarly, three health workers in the state who tested positive for Coronavirus have also tested negative for the second time and are now free of the virus.

“With this development, the total number of active cases in the state is now eight.”
