Organ Harvesting: UK attorney general to decide if Ike Ekweremadu and wife's trial will go on

The decision on whether the trial of the former Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, will proceed in the UK over allegations of human trafficking and organ harvesting will be made by the Attorney-General of England and Wales in 14 days.

The Ekweremadus, who appeared before Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Thursday June 23 and were denied bail, have been remanded in custody until July 7 for further investigation.

During the court proceedings, Damla Ayas, the crown prosecutor, emphasized that “part of the allegations” against the couple occurred in Nigeria. Ayas also stated that the case was “unique” and would require a decision from Sue-Ellen Braverman, the attorney general, on the venue for the trial.
