Following a three-hour gun battle, one of the sea pirates responsible for the killings of 4 Nigerian Navy personnel and the kidnapping of 3 foreigners at Agge in Bayelsa state has been apprehended by Special troops of the Nigerian Navy.

The clash unfolded after personnel of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operations Base (FOB) Igbokoda received intel about an approaching speed boat suspected of transporting kidnappers and their victims.

After laying siege for days, the naval personnel strategically responded to the suspects’ gunfire without initiating a counter-attack to avoid harm to the kidnapped victims.

Despite the sea pirates fleeing into the bush, they were intercepted by special troops and additional naval personnel, aided by local youths in the search for the suspects within the community.

As a result of the gunfight, three foreign nationals (two Russians and one Indian) were successfully rescued and transported to a naval base. Moreover, one of the suspects, identified as Martins Egenuvhe from Olopa Community in Bayelsa state, was apprehended with a rifle.
