Ondo Aspirants Express No Confidence in Primary Election Committee Chairman

The aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have expressed a vote of no confidence in the primary election committee being overseen by Ododo from Kogi.

The primary election is meant to select the party’s flag bearer for the upcoming Governorship election on November 16.

During a press briefing in Akure while the election was ongoing, the aspirants raised concerns about Ododo not following the due process outlined by the national leadership of the party.

Gbenga Edema, one of the aspirants, particularly criticized the delay in releasing electoral materials for the primary election.

He mentioned that as of 10:00 am, the electoral materials had not been distributed, going against the resolution made during a stakeholders’ meeting on Friday.

Mr Sola Ajisafe, representing another aspirant, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, claimed that no election had taken place in the state as electoral materials had not been provided to the wards.

In response, Ododo stated that materials had been delivered to Ondo North and Ondo South Senatorial Districts, with the promise to address all grievances.

However, some voters reported that the election proceeded peacefully in their wards, while others were still awaiting the distribution of materials.

In light of these concerns, the aspirants are calling for fairness and transparency in the primary election process, urging national party leadership to intervene and ensure a level playing field.
