Committee confirms 171,922 cleared members for Ondo APC Primary voting

During a meeting held on Friday, the committee responsible for overseeing the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ondo State disclosed that a total of 171,922 verified members are set to participate in the voting process on Saturday.

As reported by NewsNow, the primary is set to take place in 203 wards spanning 18 local government areas, with 16 contenders – including the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa – vying for the position.

After engaging with stakeholders and aspirants in Akure on Friday night, Ovie Omo-Agege, the Secretary of the seven-man committee, made this announcement.

Notably, Omo-Agege confirmed that none of the aspirants had withdrawn or endorsed another candidate prior to the commencement of the exercise.

The Secretary emphasized the committee’s readiness to oversee the primary through a direct voting approach across all 203 wards in the state.

He urged the aspirants to urge their supporters to maintain peace and order during the primary election, emphasizing the importance of the party’s progress.

Omo-Agege reiterated the committee’s commitment to adhering strictly to the party’s guidelines and constitution, ensuring a transparent, fair, and credible electoral process.

Furthermore, he pledged to work closely with the state’s security agencies to prevent any incidents of unrest before, during, and after the primary.

Notably, the committee is under the leadership of Governor Usman Adodo from Kogi State.
