Ohanaeze’s Appreciation for Igbo People’s Decision to Abstain from #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protest

Commending the Igbo people worldwide for their resolute support in not participating in the recent nationwide protests, the Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, expressed its gratitude.

In a statement released by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze acknowledged the unwavering commitment of Igbos at home and in the diaspora to the decision to boycott the protests.

Highlighting the South East region’s unity and determination in resisting external pressures, Ohanaeze praised the compliance with the directive to abstain from the protests, signaling a new sense of unity and resolve among Ndigbo to combat manipulation and exploitation.

According to Ohanaeze, this marks a significant chapter in Igbo’s perseverance and resolve to assert their rights and protect their interests.

The organization also recognized the infrastructural progress in the South East under the leadership of the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi.

Calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and the creation of an additional state for the South East to address longstanding marginalization, Ohanaeze acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recognition that the South-East and Ndigbo are not enemies, urging him to reciprocate the gesture.

Emphasizing the open stance of the South-East for dialogue and cooperation with the Federal Government, Ohanaeze encouraged Igbo people to remain steadfast and resolute despite any pressures.

“Let us continue to stand together in solidarity and work towards a brighter future for our people and our nation,” he added.

Protests under the banner of #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria have swept across Nigeria, reflecting citizens’ outrage over the deepening economic crisis, with most demonstrations being peaceful but isolated incidents of violence reported in several areas.
