Labour Party Presidential Candidate Extends Congratulations to Nigerian Academic

In a recent development, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, conveyed his congratulations to Nigerian-born Professor Ogechi Adeola on her appointment as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kigali in Rwanda. Adeola’s new role, announced on Thursday, will commence on January 11, 2024 as specified by the institution’s Governing Body.

Prior to her new position, Adeola served as an Associate Dean of Business Administration at the University of the People in California, USA.

Expressing his delight on social media, Obi highlighted Adeola’s appointment as a testament to the wealth of talent in Nigeria, emphasizing its potential to bring about significant transformation within the nation.

He tweeted, “Congratulations to Professor Ogechi Adeola, a Nigerian, on her recent appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academic (DVCA) at the University of Kigali (UoK) in Rwanda, by the Governing Body of the University.

“Prof Adeola’s appointment at the University of Kigali (UoK) is a testament to her hard work and impressive track record. Her story serves as a reminder that Nigeria boasts abundant talent, which, when nurtured under effective leadership, can lead to national transformation.”
