Obaseki rewards Edo Queens with N100m for Champions League qualification

Following their victory in the 2024 WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, Edo Queens have received a well-deserved N100 million reward.

During a grand reception held in Benin City, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, publicly announced the generous gift for the team.

In his address to the players, Obaseki expressed pride in their achievement, stating, “You have all done well, and today, as Edo celebrates its 33rd anniversary, I am delighted to receive this token of your hard work.”

He also touched on the recognition that Edo women now receive, acknowledging the shift in attitude and the importance of sports in youth development.

Referencing the team’s success as a result of investments made over the past eight years, Obaseki commended the players and encouraged them to strive for further victories, particularly in the upcoming CAF Champions League.

With a resounding 3-0 victory over Ainonvi FC from Benin in the final at Stade de la Paix, the team led by Moses Aduku secured their spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League competition scheduled for later this year.
