NYSC changing rules – HND grads need one-year industrial training

Graduates from polytechnics and mono-technics now must have completed the mandatory one-year Industrial Training to be eligible for national service, warned the National Youth Service Corps.

Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Coordinator in Lagos State, conveyed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Saturday.

NYSC has issued a circular enforcing this requirement, according to Baderinwa.

Observing a recent trend of some polytechnic and mono-technic graduates not fulfilling the one-year IT before HND program admissions, Baderinwa emphasized the importance of this training.

The one-year IT is mandatory before pursuing an HND degree, stressed Baderinwa.

Institutions must confirm completion of the one-year IT before admitting students for the HND program, ensuring compliance with the directive.

Starting from the upcoming orientation camp, candidates without proof of IT completion will not be registered by NYSC.

Implementing this measure aims to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s education sector, as stated by Baderinwa.

HND graduates seeking to join NYSC must show evidence of completing the required IT before enrollment at any NYSC orientation camp, the coordinator added.
