NSCDC: Warning on possible targeting of critical national assets by criminals during protests

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abia State has emphasized its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets in the state from potential harm during the upcoming nationwide protests.

In a recent briefing held for officers, press members, the commandant of NSCDC in Abia State, Usman Ishaq Alfadari, assured the public of the corps’ readiness to ensure the protection of lives, properties, and essential national infrastructure both during and after the protests.

Addressing the audience, Alfadari pointed out that intelligence and past experiences indicate the risk of criminal elements exploiting the protests to carry out acts of vandalism against public and private assets, thereby jeopardizing public safety.

Commandant Alfadari reiterated, “We acknowledge the concerns of the public and wish to reassure them that we have taken necessary measures to guarantee their security and well-being.” He emphasized the preparedness of NSCDC personnel to handle any potential scenario arising from the protests.

Moreover, he issued a stern warning that NSCDC would not condone any form of violence or destruction of property, emphasizing that perpetrators would face strict consequences for their actions.

Stressing their commitment to upholding law and order while safeguarding the rights of all citizens, the NSCDC commandant urged the populace to remain calm and carry out their lawful activities without fear.

Alfadari also confirmed that NSCDC is collaborating closely with other security agencies to ensure a peaceful and incident-free protest.
