NSCDC Issues Directive Prohibiting Public Display of Firearms Following Fatal Shooting of Imo Politician by one of its Operatives

The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdulahi Gana Muhammadu, has banned personnel from displaying firearms in public places.

This directive was issued in response to the accidental shooting of Mr Ndubuisi Emenike, a Chieftain of Action Alliance, by his security aide who is an NSCDC operative.

NSCDC’s spokesperson, Emmanuel Okeh, confirmed the ban on public display of firearms during a condolence visit to former Imo state governor and serving senator, Rochas Okorocha, over the demise of the Imo politician. He stated that the instruction came from President Buhari.
