NPFL Player and Coach of the Month Awards go to Mustapha and Okara

For the month of February, Ibrahim Mustapha from Kano Pillars emerged as the recipient of the Nigeria Premier Football League Player of the Month accolade.

During this period, Mustapha netted a total of four goals, notably securing a brace against Sunshine Stars at Kano’s Sani Abacha Stadium.

His impressive performance elevated his season goal tally to seven in the NPFL, achieving a significant milestone of 60 career goals in the league.

Mustapha surpassed competitors such as Chijoke Mbaoma, Godsgift Elkanah, Nenrot Silas, Nyima Nwagua, and Michael Tochukwu to claim the award.

On another note, Meremu Okara, the head coach of Bayelsa United, clinched the Coach of the Month title.

This marked Okara’s inaugural win of the award in his coaching career.

Throughout the review month, the Prosperity Boys, under Okara’s guidance, secured three consecutive victories against Gombe United, Akwa United, and Doma United, scoring a total of five goals while maintaining a clean sheet, propelling them out of the relegation zone.

Presently, Bayelsa United holds the 15th position on the NPFL table after participating in 24 matches.
