Kalu turned down a chance to extend his deal with reigning NPFL champions, Rangers for a move to Aba.
The midfielder is understood to have signed a two-year contract with the People’s Elephant.
Kalu played an important role in Rangers’ title success last season.
He registered four goals in 29 appearance for Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side.
