Notorious Boko Haram commander surrenders while troops eliminate one

Confirmation from the High Command of the Nigerian Army states that Babakarami Balawan, a well-known Boko Haram leader, has surrendered to the troops engaged in counter-terrorism operations.

In a series of operations, the troops were successful in rescuing abducted individuals, neutralizing a prominent terrorist, intercepting illegally refined Automated Gas Oil (AGO), and seizing weapons.

For instance, in Kogi State, troops promptly responded to a distress call along the Obajana Oshokoshoko road, where civilians had been kidnapped and taken into the forest.

Upon locating the victims, a fierce gun battle ensued between the troops and the kidnappers, resulting in the successful rescue of the hostages.

Meanwhile, in Imo State, armed individuals were apprehended by troops based on credible intelligence while attempting to escort a vehicle carrying 21 sacks of illegally refined diesel (AGO).

In a separate incident in Borno State, Babakarami Balawan, a notorious Boko Haram fighter, surrendered to the troops in Bama Local Government Area following sustained attacks on terrorist hideouts in the region.

Among the items recovered from the surrendering terrorist were an AK 49 rifle, a magazine, and a bicycle. Additionally, during a confrontation, two terrorists were eliminated, and various ammunition rounds were seized by the troops.

Furthermore, during a search and rescue operation in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, troops successfully rescued a woman and her two children.
