Non-performing service chief should be sacked — Senate President, Ahmad Lawan

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has called for the removal of underperforming service chiefs. He made this statement on Thursday, June 11th, following a point of order raised by Borno North senator, Abubakar Kyari, concerning the massacre of over 81 people in Gubio village.

During the session, Lawan emphasized the Senate’s repeated resolutions on the country’s insecurity, urging that individuals who have performed well in their positions should be retained. The federal government was also urged to deploy armed forces and other security agencies to increase personnel around the Lake Chad shores.

This call comes just prior to a meeting between the leadership of the National Assembly, President Muhammadu Buhari, and the nation’s service chiefs.
