Nominees Revealed for NPFL Monthly Recognition


The players competing for the March Nigeria Premier Football League Player of the Month accolade have been disclosed.

The shortlisted contenders include Clinton Jephta (Niger Tornadoes), Deputy Echeta (Rivers United),

Junior Lokosa (Sporting Lagos),

Michael Ibe (Katsina United), Sikiru Alimi (Remo Stars), and Ubong Friday (Akwa United).

Veteran striker Ubong Friday scored five goals for Akwa United, notably achieving a hat-trick and a brace earlier in the month.

Sikiru Alimi marked his return to scoring form with three goals for Remo Stars, making him the joint-top scorer in the NPFL with 14 goals.

Former Bendel Insurance forward Deputy Echeta contributed three goals to Rivers United’s victory in two out of the five matches played during the month.

Clinton Jephta has been showcasing his NPFL prowess since joining Niger Tornadoes from NNL side FC One Rocket at the beginning of the season.

Japhet notched four goals for the Ikon Allah Boys in April.

Michael Ibe and Junior Lokosa also earned nominations after scoring three goals each for Katsina United and Sporting Lagos, respectively.

It’s worth noting that Sani Suleiman, a forward from Akwa United, clinched the award last month.

The recipient of this month’s award will be disclosed later this week.
