NiMet’s Forecast: Sunshine and Thunderstorms Ahead

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a prediction indicating a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms spanning from Saturday to Monday nationwide.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, NiMet’s weather outlook projects clear skies in the northern regions on Saturday, with potential morning thunderstorms expected over parts of Kebbi and Sokoto states.

Later in the day, thunderstorms are also anticipated in areas of Kaduna, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, as mentioned by the agency.

For the North-Central cities, a sunny outlook mixed with patches of clouds is on the horizon, along with the likelihood of morning thunderstorms in parts of Niger. Furthermore, as the day progresses, thunderstorms are expected in areas of Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, and Plateau states during the afternoon and evening.

Meanwhile, an overcast sky combined with intermittent sunshine is predicted for inland states and coastal cities in the south, with chances of morning thunderstorms in parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

On Sunday, NiMet envisions a sunny atmosphere prevailing once again in the northern regions, while thunderstorms could occur in parts of Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, and Bauchi states during the afternoon and evening.

In the North-Central cities, a sunny ambiance with scattered clouds is expected, accompanied by the possibility of afternoon and evening thunderstorms in areas of the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Benue, and Plateau states. In contrast, inland states might experience a cloudy sky with sporadic sunshine later in the day.

As the day progresses, thunderstorms are likely to form in parts of Oyo, Osun, Edo, Ogun, Ekiti, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states during the afternoon and evening periods, as per the agency’s predictions.
