Nigeria’s Falcons Exit Olympics Following 3:1 Loss to Japan

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been eliminated from the Paris 2024 Olympics after a 3:1 defeat to Japan on Wednesday.

Japan quickly took a 2-0 lead through goals from Maika Hamano and Mina Tanaka in the early minutes, before securing their victory with another goal by Hikaru Kitagawa despite Jennifer Echegini’s temporary consolation for the Nigerians.

Nadeshiko Japan finished as the Group B runner-up, trailing World Champions Spain by two points, who defeated Brazil 2:0.
