Nigerians Mock Black Stars’ AFCON Arrival Attire

Nigerian fans on social media platform, X, have poked fun at the Ghanaian national team’s attire for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Black Stars, led by captain Andre Ayew, were photographed sporting white short-sleeved shirts paired with matching shorts, featuring various designs on the shirt-pockets.

Some Nigerian fans took to social media to jest at the Ghanaian players, likening their jerseys to prison uniforms, and even dubbing them “herbalist sidekicks.”

This comes as no surprise given the longstanding rivalry between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Olanrewaju Abdulyekeen commented, “No offence but why do the Ghanaians look like prisoners?”

Another Nigerian user, @Oluwadeh, remarked that the Black Stars resembled medical students in their matching white attire.

“The Ghanaians dressed like 200l Anatomy students that just passed a phase of test,” he wrote.

FireLord Zhuko was one of those who said they looked like associates of herbalists, stating in pidgin, “See as Ghana people be like those herbalists sidekick.”

@jahy_official also commented on the Ghanaian footballers’ attire, comparing them to white-clad prisoners.

“Why are they looking like kirikiri members but in white,” he wrote.

Another social media user on X, @OObialor75248, wrote, “Why do those Ghanaian guys look like herbalist apprentices? No shades abeg.”

Uncle Tenshun was among the Nigerians who likened their look to prisoners, writing, “See as these Ghanaian guys look like prisoners.”
