Nigerian Senator, Hussaini, Condemns Looting and Vandalism During Protests

Expressing concern over the looting and vandalism of public and private properties by violent protesters in various parts of the country, Nigerian Senator Babangida Hussaini (APC Jigawa North West) has voiced his disapproval.

In a statement personally issued in Abuja and shared with journalists, Senator Hussaini specifically criticized individuals who exploited the national protest against perceived governance issues to engage in looting and vandalism in Jigawa State.

Despite being impacted by the violent protests, the Senator remains committed to providing quality and responsive representation to the people of Jigawa North West through legislation focused on development.

Addressing the incidents that occurred during the protests on August 1, 2024, the statement reads in part, “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate events that unfolded during the national protests, where Nigerians expressed their legitimate concerns about the state of the nation.”

Offering condolences to those who suffered losses and damages due to the actions of miscreants during the protests, Senator Hussaini emphasized that the true issues of the protests were overshadowed by the destructive intentions of troublemakers and enemies of the State.

Assuring his constituents of his unwavering dedication to service, Senator Hussaini stated, “I will not be swayed from my legislative duties by what I have personally experienced. I am more determined than ever to enact legislation that will positively impact the people of my district and Nigeria as a whole.”

Under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio in the 10th National Assembly and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Senator Hussaini remains committed to serving his constituents and the nation.
