Nigerian Patient in the UK Urges Fellow Nigerians to Take COVID-19 Seriously and Stop Criticizing the President for Imposing a Lockdown

A Nigerian man undergoing treatment in a UK hospital after testing positive for Coronavirus has made a plea to his fellow Nigerians to take the pandemic seriously and adhere to all government-issued guidelines to contain the spread of the virus.

He emphasized that now is not the time to criticize the President for implementing the lockdown, as everything is being done for the welfare of all citizens.

“Nigerians, this is not the time to bash the President @MBuhari on the lockdown. Everything the government is doing is for the betterment of every citizen in the country. For the past 13 days, I have not had any food, and my main concern is to survive this deadly virus.

My test just came back positive for Covid19, and I can tell you that it is real. I am being looked after by amazing staff from the NHS, and they are doing a wonderful job.

We are at war fighting an invisible enemy, and everyone needs to join hands together to defeat the common enemy. Please follow all government and NCDC advice and guidelines. Hunger that has hope can never kill you. Always maintain social distancing, wash your hands, and sanitize,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he expressed his fears of infecting his infant child.

“Nigerians, it’s only advice to stay safe. I will be devastated if I infect my little baby with this virus. I find it hard thinking of doing it intentionally, let alone infecting her because I was only concerned that @MBuhari is not sharing money. This is someone’s father, and it’s real.”
