Nigerian military bolsters efforts against insecurity with 20 new APCs

Arriving on Wednesday, 20 sets of upgraded armoured personnel carriers (APCs) were officially handed over to the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, as part of the ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.

During a brief ceremony in Abuja, the delivery was carried out by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Kana, representing Defence Minister Alhaji Mohammed Badaru.

These improved APCs come equipped with enhanced weaponry and communication systems, enabling them to effectively detect and engage opponents from a distance, facilitating smoother military operations. The APCs were manufactured and supplied by a local Nigerian company.

Applauding the decision to engage local manufacturers for the production of the new APCs, the Permanent Secretary emphasized the positive impact of this move in terms of cost savings, job creation, and reducing reliance on foreign currency.

In response, Gen. Musa expressed gratitude to the Minister of Defence and affirmed the commitment to make optimal use of the carriers in the ongoing mission to eliminate insecurity across the nation.
