Nigerian man shares an astonishing encounter with a friend he never knew had passed away

An individual from Nigeria, identified as Ifeanyi Uchemaurice, took to his Facebook page to recount an experience in which he claims to have encountered a friend from Vietnam on February 17th this year, only to later discover that the friend had died in January.

Here is his story:

Ghost story:

I encountered a friend whom I had no idea was deceased.

On 17th February 2020, I came across someone I knew from Vietnam (although we were not very close friends, we were friends). He approached me from behind and called me “oga Buchi….”, then I turned around and exclaimed, “Willy, what are you doing here? Where are you coming from?” He said he was coming from Port Harcourt and heading to Awka. This occurred in Upper Iweka Onitsha in front of Ifeanyichukwu Motors.

He pulled out some gold from his pocket and asked me to buy it or help him sell it. He mentioned that he had saved the money from it to complete his mother’s house before the rainy season and that they had other expenses in the village to take care of soon. He claimed to have purchased it for 4000 dollars. I suggested that we go to the main market together, but he insisted that I should take the gold as he trusted me. So, my friend who was with me advised me to accept it.

I asked him to take my number so he could call me, and then I would inform him about the price. He mentioned that he would retrieve his phone if he reached Awka. He didn’t know his number off-hand. I went to a nearby shop, got a pen, and wrote my number for him. He left in a hurry.

Later that day, he didn’t call me (even until now)… I was very concerned, and my friends suggested that he may have stolen it or someone was trying to set me up with it. I was quite frightened, so I reached out to another friend who was in Vietnam and was closer to him. We had a conversation, and he then informed me that Willy had passed away on 11th January (our chat is below). I couldn’t believe it. He helped me obtain the phone number of his family. On the 18th, I spoke with his mother (even though she was only shouting, asking, “Uchechi, who did you leave me for?”).

I managed to speak with his aunt, who is a Reverend Sister. She said, “My son, God will bless you. What is the value of what he gave me?” I replied, “1.440.000 Naira.” She cried as she said, “My son, you will never lack.” She began telling me that Uchechi (as they called him) was her only son, and he had returned in November, planning to get married on 15th January. They killed him because he came back with a Lexus. His mother is a primary school teacher who managed to build the house to lintel level and raise her two daughters.

She told me that his car had overturned 5 times (as they were told), and he died on the spot while traveling from their village to Port Harcourt. She mentioned that he had come to her in a dream and asked his mother’s cousin to inform his mom that they should not bury him in their father’s family house, as that was where they planned for his death. He also mentioned one of his uncles, saying that he was the one responsible for his current condition.

However, his poor mother didn’t have the money to roof and complete some finishing work on that building. It caused them sleepless nights until I contacted them to inform them about this, which they didn’t believe until the 20th of February when I met with five members of his mother’s family. I tried to find buyers who would offer a larger value for it.

On the 19th, someone connected me to a Mrs. Uju Turkey, who is soon traveling to Turkey for business. She bought the gold for 1.450.000, and we went to the bank at Head Bridge yesterday afternoon, where she sent the money to his mother’s account, as I instructed based on what Willy had told me at Upper Iweka. They showed me some of his pictures from his secondary and OND days, and I was fully convinced that she was his mother.

They informed me that he would be buried next month in March.

My people, this world is full of mystery. Uwa di imirimious…
