Nigerian Man Recounts Shocking Encounter with Deceased Friend

A narrative shared by a Nigerian man, identified as Ifeanyi Uchemaurice, on his Facebook page reveals an unexpected encounter with a friend based in Vietnam. He claims to have encountered this friend on February 17th, only to later discover that the friend had passed away in January.

Below is the account of the incident:

Ghost story:

I saw a friend who I never knew had passed away.

On 17th February 2020, I met someone in Upper Iweka Onitsha, whom I knew from Vietnam (although we were not very close friends). He approached me from behind and called me “oga Buchi….”, then I turned and exclaimed, “Willy, what are you doing here? Where are you coming from?” He explained that he was coming from Portharcourt and heading to Awka. He then pulled out gold from his pocket, asking me to buy it or help him sell it. According to him, he had saved money with the gold to complete his mother’s house before the rainy season and had other village expenses to cover soon. He mentioned purchasing it for 4000 Dollars. I suggested we go to the main market together, but he insisted I take the gold as he trusted me. Reluctantly, I accepted at the insistence of my friend who was with me.

Not knowing his number off-hand, I asked him to take my number so he could call me to discuss the selling price. He mentioned that he would retrieve his phone once in Awaka. I went to a nearby shop, got a pen, and wrote down my number for him. He hurriedly left.

Later that day, he did not call me, leaving me anxious. My friends expressed concerns that he may have stolen the gold or someone was setting me up. Disturbed, I contacted another friend in Vietnam who was closer to him, only to learn that Willy had died on 11th January (our chat is below). I couldn’t believe it, and with the help of my friend, I obtained his family’s phone number. On 18th, I spoke with his mother, who was distraught, exclaiming, “Uchechi, why did you leave me?”

I managed to talk to his aunt, a Reverend Sister, who blessed me and inquired about the value of the gold. I estimated it to be 1,440,000 Naira. She tearfully assured me that I would never lack and shared more about Willy: he was the only son, had returned in November, and was set to marry on 15th January. Tragically, he was killed because he returned with a Lexus. His mother, a primary school teacher, had managed to build the house to lintel level and raise her two daughters. His car reportedly tumbled over 5 times on the way from their village to Portharcourt, where he died. In a dream, he supposedly informed his mother’s cousin to convey that they should not bury him in their father’s family house, where his demise had been planned. He also mentioned an uncle as the person responsible for his unfortunate condition.

His impoverished mother lacked the funds needed to roof and complete the building. I conveyed this information, which brought them restless nights until I informed them. On 19th, someone connected me to Mrs. Uju Turkey, who purchased the gold for 1,450,000, as she was traveling to Turkey for business. We went to the bank in Head Bridge, and she transferred the money to his mother’s account as per my instructions, based on what Willy told me at Upper Iweka. I was shown some of his pictures from his secondary and OND days, confirming the veracity of their claims.

They informed me that he would be buried in March, next month.

This world is full of mysteries… Uwa di imirimious…
