Nigerian National Arrested in India for Fraudulent Activities

Accused of swindling Rs 17 lakhs from a woman in India, Moses, a DJ residing in Bengaluru since 2014, has been arrested for promising the victim a work visa to Canada.

On Christmas Eve, a team led by Wayanad Cyber Police Station Inspector Shaju Joseph arrested Moses in Bengaluru.

According to officials, Moses used the woman’s personal details, provided on a private website, to commit the fraud.

Last October, the woman provided her personal information while searching for a medical coding job.

Using her details, the accused posed as a visa agent and contacted her through WhatsApp, ultimately gaining her trust with forged proof and flight ticket details to Canada.

She transferred Rs 17 lakhs to his account but became suspicious when he asked for more money, leading her to file a complaint at the Wayanad Cyber Police Station.

So far, the police have seized Rs 6 lakh from the accused and traced him using his device’s IP address and online purchases.

Moses, a DJ artist, has been known to engage in numerous online frauds, leveraging only a single DJ event a month to dedicate the rest of his time to fraudulent activities.

The authorities have confiscated several devices from his possession.
