Nigerian Lawmaker Calls for Foreign Intervention in Insecurity Crisis

In a recent statement, Borno State House of Representatives member Ahmed Jaha urged the Bola Tinubu administration to seek assistance from foreign entities to address the escalating insecurity, emphasizing the perceived failure of Nigerian security forces.

Jaha, who represents Chibok, Gwoza, and Danbuwa, made these remarks during a session where he responded to a motion put forward by Obinna Ginger.

Highlighting the potency of foreign mercenaries in combating the Boko Haram insurgency during the Goodluck Jonathan era, Jaha lamented the decision made by President Buhari in 2015 to expel these foreign forces, leading to a deterioration of security conditions across various regions.

Despite significant financial investments in the armed forces, Jaha criticized their inability to effectively address the security challenges, stressing the urgent need for a unified stance within the House on soliciting external assistance.

Reflecting on the past, Jaha mentioned the pivotal role played by South African mercenaries, whom former President Jonathan had enlisted to combat insurgents.
