In an impressive display at the Stade de France in Paris, Nigerian athlete Favour Ofili successfully advanced to the final of the women’s 200 meters event during the Olympic Games.
Running a season-best time of 22.05 seconds, Ofili secured her place by finishing behind Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, the new women’s 100m champion, in the first heat of the semi-finals.
She now joins seven other competitors in the final, positioned at third place among the finalists.
Despite being ranked 31st globally, with a personal best of 21.96, Ofili stands as the underdog in the final lineup.
In comparison, Alfred clocked 21.98 in the semi-finals, while Gabrielle Thomas of the U.S. secured a time of 21.86 to win the second heat of the semis.
